Flying Report on Instagram: "News: 🔺 Following the Japan Airlines A350 (JAL516) crash with a Japan Coast Guard DHC-8 (JA722A) on Tuesday, 2 January 2024, Japanese authorities have released the Air Traffic Control (ATC) transcript. 🔺 The transcript shows that the Japan Airlines A350 was cleared to land on runway 34R about 2 minutes before the collision with the Coast Guard DHC-8. Meanwhile, the DHC-8 was cleared to taxi to holding point C5 just before runway 34R. 🔺 The crew of the Japan Coast Guard correctly read back the instructions. It is unknown why the Coast Guard aircraft then taxied onto runway 34R. However, according to the coast guard captain, he understood the instruction as a takeoff clearance and lined up on runway 34R. 🔺 On January 4, 2024 more information was released about the crash.
